Niko Moon Good Time #1 on ACC with Kix Brooks

Kix Brooks and ACC are on CISN Country 103.9 Edmonton and Country 105 Calgary Saturday’s 8 am to Noon.

Niko Moon’s Good Time is #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, followed by American Country Countdown.

Niko Moon, born Nicholas Cowan, is from Tyler, Texas, but relocated to Douglasville, Georgia, when he was 10. He had early success as a songwriter and producer before signing with RCA Nashville as a recording artist in 2019. He co-wrote three Zac Brown Band Country Airplay #1’s: Keep Me in Mind in 2011, Homegrown and Loving You Easy in 2015.

“If my life was to have a sound, this is it. The way I think of it is bass and drums is Atlanta, and everything above it is Douglasville.”

Good Time is also #1 this week on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

“There’s millions of people that are just like me, who are country people but want their country music to hit. My goal in high school was to blow up my S10 speakers in my little truck, and it was hard to do that with country music at the time. I’m a country artist 100%, and I’m going to be a country artist. I just love to feel that hit in the chest, and that’s what I love about the Atlanta thing.”

“I want to give a BIG, BIG thank you to everyone who has believed in me and believed in GOOD TIME. I also want to thank country radio and streaming platforms for allowing me to connect with all of their amazing country music fans. This has been a dream of mine for a really long time, and y’all have made it possible.”

Niko Moon co-wrote Good Time with his wife Anna Moon, Jordan Minton, Joshua Murty, and Mark Trussell.

“We originally were wanting to pitch this song to Blake Shelton. But the way that we wrote it was kind of a little more R-and-B-ish and a lot slower. It ended up not getting any bites. And then a year later, I started making my album, and I remember thinking, That song would just fit in really well with all these other songs I’m doing with the whole thing that I’m wanting to do with my music. If we sped it up and kind of put my twist on it, I think it would be great. And so, we rewrote some of the lyrics and Good Time just kind of came to life and, you know, became a song for me at that point.”

Good Time is the first single and title track from Niko’s four-song EP.

“I’m a pretty minimal person. I don’t like clutter, and I don’t like to inundate people with too many sounds at one time. Especially in country music, the story is so important.”

“The only thing I’m really concerned with is: Does it make people feel good? Does it make them feel happy? If the songs do that, then I did my job.”

“I got Good Time tattooed on my legs, and that was when the song first released, because that was a big moment for me. I mean, it’s my very first song I ever released as an artist, my very first song on the radio, I mean, major, major moment in my life had to commemorate it.”

Niko is planning another tattoo to celebrate his first #1 song.

“I’ve been thinking maybe like a fishing pole with a little bobber on it or maybe a little bottle of apple pie moonshine. I haven’t decided but I’m definitely gonna get something.”
