Darius Rucker Beers And Sunshine #1 on ACC with Kix Brooks

Kix Brooks and American Country Countdown are on CISN Country 103.9 Edmonton and Country 105 Calgary Saturday’s 8 am to Noon.

Darius Rucker’s Beers And Sunshine is #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, followed by ACC.

“When I came to Nashville 13 years ago, I just wanted to play country music. To have nine #1 songs is more than a dream come true. It’s unbelievable.”

Beers And Sunshine is Darius Rucker’s 10th career and 9th Billboard Country Airplay #1.

Darius Rucker co-wrote Beers And Sunshine at the beginning of COVID-19 via Zoom with Ross Copperman, J.T. Harding, and Josh Osborne.

“It was early; it was probably two months in, and we were already tired of it and wanted to get back to regular life. We just wanted to write something light and fun, something that would make everybody feel good for a second and remember that there’s a lot of good stuff in the world too, even though this is going on.”

“When we recorded it the studios were still closed and so my producer Ross Copperman, he just called everybody and they played in their own studios in their house. We just recorded it all over the internet and it worked.”

Beers And Sunshine is the first single off Rucker’s upcoming 6th LP.

“I’m about done with it. Hopefully it will be out in late spring, early summer but I’m excited about it. With everything going on in the world and everything going on in my life, there’s a lot to write about.”

“It’s certainly been a challenging year. Like a lot of people, when I got home from being on the road last March, and we parked the tour bus for the foreseeable future, we had no idea what our future would actually look like. I don’t have the answers for how we fix the complex issues that we’re facing in our country or in country music; however, while we work through this time, I think it’s important that we balance the heaviness by finding the silver lining, where we can really enjoy the simple joys this song talks about like time spent together with friends and family.”

Darius Rucker can’t wait to start touring again.

“I really miss it so much. I want to go out on the road. I want to play shows for people, packed crowds, so bad but I want to do it when the time is right.”
