Your Favourite Country Music Artists & Their Dogs!

I am so excited for this weekend!! I am going to be your MC at the first ever Dog City Festival on Saturday!  What a perfect time to find out how your favorite country music artists got their pup’s names!

1.Brett Eldredge & Edgar Boogie

Brett grew up in Paris, Illinois ; which happens to be in Edgar County. He said it was no question what to name Edgar as he wanted something that reminded him of home. As for the Boogie part- well that’s because of his love of dancing! (Brett’s or Edgar’s…we don’t know). If you follow along on instagram or snapchat – you know the dog goes everywhere! That includes last year’s BVJ!

2. Maren Morris and Pancake

Maren and her husband, Ryan Hurd, actually got Pancake from Jon Pardi’s mom! They named him Pancake because they thought it was the perfect name as his smooshed face is just as round and fluffy like the breakfast pastry!

3. Kelsea Ballerini and Dibs

Follow Kelsea on Instagram and you know she is one proud “Dog Mom”. She got the name Dibs from her No. 1 song from The First Time album.

4. Thomas Rhett and Lauren Atkins with Cash & Kona

Before they were parents to Willa Grey and Ada James, there was Cash and Kona. Although photos are of the two dogs are hard to come by now- they are absolutely adorable! And yes…. Thomas even wrote a song for his dogs. Kona came first and was named after their honeymoon in Hawaii. Thomas says they drank “Kona” coffee every day and the name sounded perfect. As for Cash – the Atkins family has never really said where they got the name from but we can assume perhaps from Johnny Cash?

5. Jake Owen and Axel

Jake adopted Axel, a german shepherd pup, and looked no further than his daughter Pearl for some name advice. When she suggested Axel – he loved it. He said he wanted a game worthy of a rock star and since Axel is German; it just fit.

6. Carrie Underwood & Zero

Carrie and her family welcomed a new adopted puppy in January of this year. He got his name from her son Isaiah who loved the name. Her husband Mike Fisher said ““I guess it fits because it’s the chance of surviving if you try to break into our home 😂”
