Two Weeks #1 Chase Rice Eyes On You on ACC with Kix Brooks

American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks is on CISN Country 103.9 Edmonton and Country 105 Calgary Saturday mornings 8am-Noon.

Eyes On You from Chase Rice is #1 for a second week on ACC with Kix Brooks.

Prior to Chase’s first #1 Eyes he had two top ten hits, Ready Set Roll #5 2014 and Gonna Wanna Tonight #2 2015.

Before Country music fame Chase Rice was a linebacker for the University of North Carolina, NASCAR pit crew member for Hendrick Motorsports and placed second on the 21st season of CBS’s Survivor in 2010.

“I moved to Nashville to write songs.” “When I started doing it it was as pure as it could possibly be for me as a person. I was writing about what was going on in my life. My dad had passed away and I wrote about that and that was everything I wanted to do; just write songs.

I didn’t care if people liked it; I just cared about what I was writing and that was my therapy and my life on paper. And to see whatever was going on with me and how that would connect with other people and that to me is the coolest thing because what’s going on in your life is going on with somebody else.”

We’re going to follow Eyes On You with something new. I’ve been writing like crazy, and I’m trying to beat it. We’ve got a lot of great stuff: the top five are called Lonely If You Are, Down Home Runs Deep, You, Breathing Room and Nowhere Tonight.

Lonely If You Are has just an acoustic guitar in the beginning, which I’ve never really done. It’s a little different sound for me, but it’s a jam. It’s probably the leader for the next single. The song we go with will be released by summer, probably by the end of May or beginning of June.

Eyes On You is from the LP Lambs & Lions, written by Chase Rice, Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley.

Ashley Gorley started playing piano, and I looked through my Notes app. I came across a note on my phone that said Eyes on You, and under it said “travel the world, miss it all because you’re looking at her.” I realized it went with what Ashley was playing.

We recorded it that day, and we were like, “Oh my God, we’re on to something huge.” I had never seen Gorley so obsessed about writing a big song with me. We’ve written so many good songs together, but none of them were singles.

One person said on Twitter, “Thank God Chase Rice came out with Eyes on You so people can stop getting married to Russell Dickerson and Ed Sheeran. We finally got somebody else!”

Morgan Wallen’s Whiskey Glasses is his first #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It hit #1 on May 13th Morgan’s 26th Birthday.

Luke Combs is still #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, 34 weeks and counting. Beautiful Crazy is #1 on the Country Streaming Songs chart.

Luke released his new song Beer Never Broke My Heart May 8th. After one week Radio and Billboard love Beer, it’s already #12 on Hot Country Songs and #15 on the Country Airplay chart.

This week in Billboard #1 Hot Country Songs chart history.

In 1998 Faith Hill was #1 with This Kiss.

In 1987 Dolly, Linda and Emmylou, The Trio had a #1 Billboard Hot Country Songs hit with To Know Him Is To Love Him.
